摘要
Few are known about the factors associated with consumption. The aim of this study was to identify the level of consumption of nutritional supplements and factors associated with this consumption in goers in gyms. To this end, questionnaires were administered for 449 goers of six academies of Nova Odessa / SP. The results showed that (45 %) used supplements, (80 %) being male. The most used supplements were rich in protein (33 %), BCAA (18 %), creatine (14 %), carbohydrate (8 %) and fat burners (7 %). The preference for the consumption of proteins and amino acids by men and women tend to use fat burners. The most (55%) reported consuming supplements oriented by physical education teachers and (40%) without any professional guidance which may be related to the few amount of nutritionists and high commercialization of supplements in gyms. The activities performed by the most of participants (60%) were the anaerobic activities along with aesthetic concerns may have influenced the high consumption of supplements. There is great interest (66%) of the participants to receive nutritional guidance related to supplements and alimentation. We conclude that there was a high prevalence of use of supplements in gyms without proper prescription, associated with the quest for aesthetics and based in empirical knowledge, requiring, public awareness campaigns on this topic.
