摘要
This manuscript discusses the implementation of information technology tools; specifically, computerized Knowledge Based Systems (KBS), in managing the energy flows, conversions, and expenditures within manufacturing environments; including renewable energy sources (namely, landfill gas). The study presents actual KBS embodiments in energy auditing, modeling, and optimization. Additionally, the text presents how IT tools can be used at a system level to integrate sustainability planning within manufacturing planning. The developed tool also addresses the question "howenergy-efficient are renewable energy sources" using a novel simulation platform based on hybrid scheme.
