NOISE-LEVELS IN PHYSICIANS OFFICES

The development of hand-held auditory screening devices has led to increased hearing screening by physicians. Ambient noise levels were assessed in examination rooms of 20 physician offices. Measurements provided L., Leq, LmaXa, n d octave band data for specialty types: pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice and otolaryngology. Such data should not replace the need for individually monitoring potential screening sites. © 1990 by The Williams and Wilkins Co.
