摘要：
The field today more popularly called "flexible manufacturing", almost began over a decade-and-a-half ago. As now is well known, the entire enterprise is involved, not the mere linking of computers and machines. But in the beginning this truth was an integral part of the design, necessary for the rationalization of a step of such magnitude-for only the design, not the complete operational system, was available to learn from. © 1990.
