摘要
The thermodynamic equilibrium involved in the steam reforming of ethanol to produce hydrogen has been examined over the following ranges: pressure 1-9 atm, temperature 400-800 K and water to ethanol feed ratio 0:1-10:1. The non-stoichiometric formulation has been used. The best condition for hydrogen production occurs at T > 650 K, atmospheric pressure and water in excess in the feed. In this condition, methane production is minimized and carbon formation is thermodynamically inhibited. The behavior of the system is very similar to that of steam reforming of methanol, except that in the case of ethanol, higher temperatures and higher water to ethanol feed ratios are needed in order to obtain the best hydrogen production.
