摘要
This article reports the development of a brief self-report instrument for assessing the application of self-management practices in people's daily lives. Strategies described in Manage Your Life (4th ed.) were translated into a 48-item instrument and administered to a primary sample of 735 college students and nonstudent adults. Secondary samples of 239 students and 55 nonstudent adults were used in the test-retest reliability and convergent validity assessment of the instrument. A series of factor analyses and validity assessments reduced the instrument to 16 items encompassing four factors. Findings indicated that the final scale (entitled Lifestyle Approaches) is strong in each of the following psychometric areas: internal consistency, test-retest reliability, convergent validity, concurrent validity, and discriminant validity. The scale has been related to both physical and psychological health variables. © 1992.
