PIEZOELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF PB(ZN1/3NB2/3)O3-KNBO3-PZT SOLID-SOLUTION

Perovskite-structured lead zinc niobate, Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PZN) ceramics can be stabilized by substituting for 10 mol % KNbO3 (KN). Piezoelectric properties of the pseudo-ternary PZT ceramics including 0.9PZN-0.1KN, namely, a.{0.9Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.1KNbO3} -b.PbZrO3 -c.PbTiO3 (PKNZT [100a/100b/100c]) are studied from a viewpoint of piezoelectric actuator materials. For example, PKNZT [45/28/27] has a high electromechanical coupling factor, k33 =70.1 %, a free permittivity, epsilon33T/epsilon0=1890 and a high piezoelectric constant, d33 =377 x10(-12) C/N. PKNZT ceramics are favorable to piezoelectric actuator materials.
