EVOLUTION OF AN EXTENSIVE SUPERFICIAL DERMATOPHYTOSIS TO A DEEP DERMATOPHYTOSIS

The authors report the case of a fourty-five-years-old woman who complains since her childhood of an extensive superficial dermatophytosis. Mycologic exams showed Trichophyton violaceum. Immunologic tests showed cellular immunodeficiency. Therapeutic attempts including griseofulvin, ketoconazole and itraconazole failed to avoid the evolution to deep dermatophytosis. Indeed, in 1994, nodular lesions appeared in axillar folds. Histologic exams showed mycotic granuloma. There is no majoration of the immunodeficiency-state. A therapeutic assay with terbinafine is Started since November 1994.
