摘要
The Wave plate is a fixation system for open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of calcaneal fractures designed to be performed through a sinus tarsi approach. The system provides locking fixation applied through a minimally invasive approach. Wound complications are substantially reduced using this method without compromising visualization of fracture reduction or fixation strength. Once the fracture has been reduced through the sinus tarsi incision the plate is slid between the lateral wall of the calcaneus and the integument. After adequate plate positioning has been obtained the articular fragments are lagged to the constant fragment. Locking screws may be added to the plate percutaneously. This system gives the orthopedic surgeon a method to reliably fix calcaneal fractures while reducing the risk of wound complications.
