摘要
Introduction: Recent reports suggested that 3-dimentional spi. ral computerized tomographic angiography (CIA; can be used in lieu of IVP and conventional renal angiography (RA). The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of CTA in renal transplant donors. Patients end Methods: Forty-eight renal transplant donors were evaluated by CTA. Following CTA abdominal scout was obtained to define ureters and bladder. CTA images were compared with operative findings. Results: CTA detected accessory arteries in 13 donors. One of these patients' accessory artery was not found in operation. Two accessory arteries were missed by CTA. In 33 donors single renal artery was found by CTA and confirmed in surgery. Cortical cysts (n=7), renal stone (n=2) and duplicated ureter (n=1) were found in CTA. The sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value of CTA to detect accessory arteries were 85%, 97% and 91%, respectively. Conclusions: CTA with its high yield of sensitivity and specificity, low morbidity and cost and being more acceptable for donors, can be alternative for conventional radiological work-up of living renal donors.
