摘要：
This article describes the German healthcare system. Beginning with its historical origins, we present the basic characteristics of the current healthcare system and the principles on which it is based. We continue with its funding and management systems, its methods of operation in both outpatient and hospital settings, the system of payment for healthcare services in the public and private sectors, and some key indicators for comparing it with other countries. Finally, we outline the major themes of the current healthcare debate in Germany.
