摘要
This study aimed to describe the understanding of nursing students on the teaching-learning process in an institution of higher education in southern Brazil and comment on the learning styles developed. This is a qualitative study made by using an open-ended and self-administered questionnaire. The respondents were nine students of undergraduate nursing. The data was thematically analyzed and it had three themes: active methodology - a transformation instrument; social reality as a curricular innovation, and facilitator as a partner of the teaching process. For interpretation of the data was used Paulo Freire and authors who discuss the topic. Students demonstrate understanding of a free and differentiated process of teaching-learning, which enables a wide view about the care of the users of the unified health system. The students recognize the importance of their participation in the teaching-learning process, and they occupy a protagonist, active, and articulatory activity, making them more critical, reflective and able to work in nursing.
