The magnetic fabric of the Limhamn limestones is characterized by a low initial magnetic susceptibility. Of 68 specimens with a positive susceptibility, 10 show a distinct anisotropy. In nine of these, the axes of minimum susceptibility are practically normal to the magnetic foliation plane. The observed anisotropy pattern has some resemblance to a magnetic fabric acquired by deposition under influence of currents. A post-depositional origin due to gravitational compaction seems, however, more probable.
