Pilonidal disease is an acquired disorder that commonly affects the sacrococcygeal area. The aim of this report is to discuss a new type of classification and surgical technique for this disorder. Since 2006, a new classification depending on the borders of the intergluteal sulcus named as the "Navicular Area" has been used in our clinic. According to this new technique, the main goal of surgery is to destroy the anatomical patency of the intergluteal sulcus. When compared with the conventional procedures, our technique can be considered to be "limited" with its great advantage of rapid healing and shorter period to return to work. Our aim is to carry out a long-term follow-up of patients in order to clarify the rates for long-term complications and recurrence.
