摘要
This paper shows how the full use of isomerization extends refinery flexibility to meet changing regulations and/or markets. Use of the Total Isomerization Process (TIP) allows conversion of the paraffin fractions in the gasoline boiling region including light straight-run naphtha, light reformate, aromatics unit raffinate, hydrocrackate and natural gasoline. The result offers flexibility in octane improvement and/or yield such that production of gasoline can be maximized for a given crude run and allowed TEL use, pool octane number can be maximized for any allowed TEL usage, or crude run can be cut to meet a given gasoline production when crude run is set by gasoline markets. Two topics are discussed in some detail - (1) isomerization routes, and (2) isomerization options.
