摘要
The role of geometry on the mechanical performance of scarf joints in birch plywood bonded with melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resin was investigated. Model joints consists of 5-layer plywood of 6.5 mm nominal thickness at 4.6 degrees; 5 degrees; 6 degrees; 7 degrees of varying scarf joints produced from birch (Betula pendula L.) wood. There is little information available concerning the tensile strength for joining plywood, and in particular scarf joints. In this study, it was aimed to determine the tensile strength for jointed plywood. For this purpose, samples were tested according to TS EN 310 standard It was observed that the highest tensile strength (74.3 MPa) was obtained in investigated group of samples jointed with scarf angle 4.6 degrees. As a result of the effects scarf joints on tensile strength test, if the scarf angle decreases, the properties of plywood jointed with scarf joint increase.
