Experimental Study on Tensile Strength of Precast Concrete Segmental Glued Joint Beam

If the tensile strength at the joint is not considered when calculating the crack resistance of railway glued joint beam, the prestress of the beam body will be large and the prestressed reinforcement will be wasted. The tensile strength of glued joint was studied by static load test of a 24 m glued joint beam. Taking the test beam for example,the safety coefficient of crack resistance of the joint and the mid-span section and the amount of prestressed reinforcement of the beam body were calculated and analyzed. The results show that the first crack of the glued joint beam does not appear at the joint,but in the reinforced concrete area of the mid-span segment. The crack at the joint appears in the thin layer of plain concrete at the end section of segment. The joint section is the control section of the crack resistance calculation of glued joint beam. The calculated value of tensile strength at the joint can be taken as 0. 6 times the ultimate tensile strength of concrete. In order to meet the requirement of safety coefficient of crack resistance (1. 25), the compressive stress of the tensile edge of the joint section under the design bending moment should be higher than 1 MPa. When the tensile strength of the glued joint is considered, the compressive pre-stress level and the amount of prestressed reinforcement of the beam body can be reduced. The treatment degree of assembled surface of glued beam has obvious influence on the tensile strength of joint. When the interface is well treated, the crack resistance of the joint can be improved. © 2023 Chinese Academy of Railway Sciences. All rights reserved.
