The city in the news: reading activities and text production in the "Entretextos" project

This article presents some thoughts on reading activities and textual production developed by students of the "Entretextos" extension project, from the Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts of UFMA (Federal University of the State of Maranhao). The "Entretextos" develops reading workshops and textual production with students from public schools and aims to address language as social interaction as a process of dialogue between historically and culturally situated subjects, seeking to strengthen students' interest by the practice of reading and textual production. The ideas presented here are the result of activities on the news genre, applied to a class composed of students from various grades whose classes are held on the premises of UFMA. Methodologically speaking, at this article, we analyze three texts produced by these course participants. The activity allows us to state that, the closer the reality of the students for the activity of textualization the greater the involvement of apprentices. It is noticed that they still have difficulty in developing the genre news, because they are stuck in "writing" which is traditionally required at school.
