7-Alkyl-3-methyl-3,7-dihydro-1H-purine-2,6-diones and their 8-alkyl derivatives were obtained from 3-methyl-3,7-dihydro-1H-purine-2,6-dione and its 8-alkyl derivatives by partial alkylation with alkyl (C2-C4) bromides in the presence of potassium carbonate in dimethylformamide.
