Identity and regionalization: the Moroccan political actors before the constitutional reform of 2011

The tangible result of the Arab Spring in Morocco is the last Constitutional reform of July 1, 2011 whose scope is limited. The purpose of this article is to analyze the demands and proposals for reform of the Constitution on regional issues and identity matters. To do this, we will take into consideration several Moroccan political actors in this authoritarian context: some of the most representative political parties, plus other minor parties and different social movements. The aim is to offer some key explanations of the limited scope of the Constitutional reform from the weakness of some actors, and the moderation and self-restraint of others vis-a-vis the redefinition of the new political agreement.
