摘要
We believe that an Education for Citizenship should not be forgotten as a basic subject in the Secondary School because to survive, our democracy needs a new transition towards a more critical, active and collaborative citizenship. Taking this into account, the public democratic school must not be marginal from this responsibility in the education of civic citizens. With this paper we aim to go deep into the debate currently affecting our country regarding the advantages or disadvantages of including this new subject in the school curriculum. For this, we share our own experience as teachers in this article. Also, we stress the new opportunities for the Social Sciences as a subject in case it assumed this challenging formative responsibility.
