ON THE THERMOHALINE FINE-STRUCTURE IN MEDITERRANEAN SALT LENSES

Relying on CTD data the thermohaline finestructure characteristics of the lenses are determined and their comparison is carried out. It has been established that the main mechanism for heat and salt exchange of lenses with the background water is intrusive mixing, the intensity of which increases in the course of evolution. The developed step-like structure has been found only under the lense core at the later evolutional stage.
