REEXAMINING PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION IN HUMAN-RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Because there is not yet enough agreement on what constitutes a fully competent human resource professional, this author also does not favor a system of formal certification at this time. He states, however, that at such time as agreement among both HR professionals and line management is possible, he will favor establishment of rigorous and measurable professional certification standards. A model is presented of what might be a complete human resource management professional for the foreseeable future.
