摘要
The diabetic foot syndrome is a diseases that that requires interdisciplinary treatment. Etiologically the triopathy of ischemia, neuropathy and infection plays a decisive role. Early and structured diagnostic workup as well as treatment in well-versed and specialized facilities are the best guaranty to avoid amputations. Especially the complex wound situation in patients with diabetes requires a very specific wound management. Thereby, medical know-how is essential to guarantee the differential diagnosis between neuropathic or angiopathic ulcer as well as the evaluation of accompanying infections and the resultant medical procedures. The basic procedure for all active wound treatments is cleansing and debridement. Primary and secondary prevention are significant to reduce the number of amputations. Treatment should achieve the best possible functional result for the individual, taking into account the patient's personal circumstances and comorbidities.
