Improvement in the precision of tool-blank motion during turning is considered. Delay in the delivery of correction signals to the control system limits the machining precision. To resolve this problem, a parallel model of the cutting process is employed. Simulation on a PC in parallel with the machining of the blank permits the timely introduction of correction signals from the model in the control system. The accuracy of simulation is verified experimentally. © Allerton Press, Inc., 2009.
