Effect of viscous dissipation on hydromagnetic fluid flow and heat transfer in a porous medium at an exponentially stretching sheet with fluid-particle suspension

The effect of viscous dissipation on magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a dusty fluid in a porous medium over an exponentially stretching sheet was studied numerically. The stretching velocity and wall temperature are assumed to vary according to specific exponential forms. The system of equations governing the flow and temperature are reduced to system of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations using suitable similarity transformations. An effective numerical method like Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg 45 is used to solve the obtained differential equations. The heat transfer analysis is carried out for two heating process, namely (i) prescribed exponential order surface temperature and (ii) prescribed exponential order heat flux. The effects of flow parameters such as fluid-particle interaction parameter, magnetic parameter, permeability parameter, suction parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number on the flow field and heat transfer characteristics were obtained and discussed in detail. Under the limiting cases a comparison of present results with existing one was made and found to be in good agreement. © 2013, African Mathematical Union and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
