Organomineral adsorbents were prepared by the impregnation of spent oil refinery zeolites with the solutions of shale phenols in furfural followed by carbonization and activation. These adsorbents can be used for the purification of toxic polymetallic wastewater and for the recovery and concentration of arsenic and mercury. As compared with an aqueous solution, the amounts of arsenic and mercury concentrated of the surface of the organomineral adsorbent after a 120-h contact were greater by factors of 2 and 15, respectively.
