The Tehri hydropower complex is under construction on the Bhagirathi river in Uttar Pradesh, India. The complex was designed for accumulation of monsoon runoff, irrigation, power generation, interception of flood water and prevention of flooding, and for the supply of drinking water. The designs of the rock-fill dam, spillway structures and underground Tehri hydroelectric plant are described. The Koteshvahr hydroproject, 18.2 km downstream from the Tehri Dam is described.
