摘要
Although humans often cooperate with each other, the temptation to forego the public good mostly wins over collective cooperative action, leading to the so-called 'tragedy of the commons'. Many existing models treat individuals as equivalent, ignoring diversity and population structure. Santos et al. show theoretically that social diversity, introduced via heterogeneous graphs, promotes the emergence of cooperation in public goods games.
