摘要：
Die westliche Medizin hat ein tiefes Verständnis des Diabetes auf zellulärer und genetischer Ebene gebracht und durch moderne Insuline und Antidiabetika die Kontrolle des Blutzuckers ermöglicht. Die Möglichkeiten der westlichen Medizin hinsichtlich der Therapie diabetischer Komplikationen sind aber begrenzt. Dies betrifft sowohl die diabetische Nephropathie, Arteriosklerose, Polyneuropathie als auch das diabetische Fußsyndrom.
