Energy-based method for estimation of stress and elastoplastic strain concentration factors

An analysis of relationships most frequently used in the assessments of stress-concentration and elastoplastic strain-concentration factors is made from the energy standpoint. An energy-based method for assessing the concentration effect is proposed and verified experimentally. A comparison is made between the results for stress-concentration factors calculated by the well-known methods and those obtained by the method proposed, which is shown to be applicable for practical calculations. © 1999 Kluwer Academic/Plenum Publishers.
