摘要
Abstract: The requirements imposed on pilotless aerial vehicles (drones) for operation in the Arctic are considered, in the context of energy-generation technologies for drone propulsion. Existing requirements on small cargo delivery are analyzed. The characteristics of drones in use today are outlined. The fundamental features of drones incapable of Arctic operation are presented. The potential of innovative technologies is discussed. The application of fuel cells and an electric motor for drone propulsion is explored. The effectiveness of hydrogen and methanol as sources of electrical energy is compared. It is established that methanol fuel cells may be used for Arctic drones of aerodynamic type. © 2023, Allerton Press, Inc.
