The author conducts a follow-up to a review of the development of the child and youth care profession in the United States that he conducted 11 years ago (Krueger, 1991a). He concludes that child and youth care is still an emerging profession, but that a shift in direction is needed to move the field forward. © 2002 Human Sciences Press, Inc.
