Radiation of Nonsymmetric Whistler Waves from a Phased Antenna Array in a Magnetoplasma

We study the radiation of nonsymmetric waves from a circular equidistant phased antenna array immersed in a homogeneous cold magnetoplasma. The radiating elements of the array are electrically small loop antennas the axes of which are aligned with an external magnetic field. By expanding the excited field in terms of cylindrical vector eigenfunctions of the magnetoplasma, integral representations of the field and the total radiated power of the array are obtained. For the nonresonant part of the whistler frequency range, the total radiated power and the partial radiated powers going to waves with different values of the azimuthal index are determined. Conditions are found under which the array can efficiently excite whistler waves with a given azimuthal index in a magnetoplasma.
