A New Prenylated Coumarin from Daphne oleoides and its Cytotoxic Activity

A new prenylated coumarin, 7-(4′-methylpentoxy)-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one (1), together with two known coumarins (2, 3), was isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Daphne oleoides (Thymelaeaceae). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. The three compounds (1–3) were screened for preliminary cytotoxic activity using MTT assay on human breast cancer (HBL-100), lung cancer (A549), and cervical cancer (HeLa) cell lines, which revealed that the compounds possess in vitro cytotoxic activity with IC50 values ranging between 23.99–49.13 μg/mL.
