摘要
In this paper, 2D CFD simulation of three different shapes of producer gas carburetor, viz. T shape type, Y shape type and Venturi type carburetors, has been carried out for the same input parameters like air–fuel ratio, intake pipe diameters and mixing length. The geometry of carburetor has been created in GAMBIT software, while the numerical analysis of air–producer gas mixing has been carried out with the FLUENT solver. The Species transport model has been used for analysis. The difference between maximum and minimum mass fraction of CH4 for Venturi type carburetor is found to be 0.005 which is 0.010 for T shape and 0.011 for Y shape carburetor. Similarly, the difference between maximum and minimum of mass fractions H2 and CO is found to be 0.003 and 0.082, respectively, which is very small compared to 0.006 and 0.18 for T shape and 0.007 and 0.19 for Y shape carburetors. Better mixing performance and homogeneity characteristics of air–fuel mixture are obtained for Venturi type than existing T shape carburetor and also newly suggested Y shape carburetor. © 2020, The Institution of Engineers (India).
