Enthalpies of Solution and Mixing for Graphite in Molten Silicon at 2000 K

Partial and integral enthalpies of mixing have been determined in an isoperibolic calorimeter for liquid alloys in the silicon – carbon binary system at 2000 K. These enthalpies of mixing are small exothermic quantities which agree with published data. The enthalpy of mixing ΔfHº298 has been calculated for silicon carbide.
