Successful treatment of primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the vagina with chemotherapy

Introduction: The vagina as a primary site of malignant lymphoma in woman is extremely rare. Case report: We report here a 30-year-old patient with a primary vaginal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma stage IEA, follicular large cell of B lineage, with an excellent response to cytotoxic chemotherapy (CHOP) and event-free survival of 28 months. Conclusion: Primary involvement of the vagina can be successfully treated by pelvic irradiation, but in young women chemotherapy should be considered to preserve fertility, as well as quality of life.
