Within the framework of the model of quasicontinuous fragmentation of a drop, the approximate expression for the size distribution function of stripped droplets has been found by the mechanism of gradient instability in high-velocity flows. The intermediate and final distributions obtained for different values of the governing parameters have been given. A comparison to results of calculations performed according to the overall scheme demonstrates good agreement in a wide range of parametric values. Certain general features of the dispersion kinetics have been described.© 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
