The principles for selecting the initial polymer fibres for production of CFA are formulated, the conditions of activation of CF are determined, a mechanism of pore structure formation is proposed, and ways of regulating and varying the chemical state of the surface are demonstrated. The advantages of CFA over granulated carbons in the region of low concentrations and the presence of molecular-sieve properties in the fibre sorbents are demonstrated in a study of equilibrium sorption of vapors of organic substances and a series of fatty acids and dyes. The effect of diffusion factors in conducting sorption on CFA is determined.
