Vapor-phase growth of CdF2 whiskers in the CdF2-GaF3 system

摘要
Insulating CdF2 whiskers of helical shape with a diameter from 10 to 30 μm and a length exceeding 7 mm have been grown for the first time. The conditions of their growth suggest that they grow through the classical vapor-liquid-solid mechanism.
