Verletzungen des oberen Sprunggelenkes sind häufigster Grund der Vorstellung in Notfallambulanzen. Die Erstbehandlung obliegt oft jungen ärztlichen Kollegen. Während der Verletzungsmechanismus banal erscheinen mag, können unzureichende Diagnostik und Therapie zu langer Arbeitsunfähigkeit und funktionellen Einschränkungen des Gelenkes führen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es daher, eine umfassende Übersicht über Anatomie, Biomechanik, Unfallmechanismen, Diagnostik und Therapie der Frakturen des oberen Sprunggelenkes zu vermitteln.
