Photocatalyst Al2O3–TiO2: preparation of poly vinyl alcohol based nanocomposite by ultrasonic waves

In this work various morphologies of Al(OH)3, Al2O3 and TiO2 nanostructures were synthesized via sonochemical reaction at room temperature. The effect of different parameters such as power, time and surfactants on the morphology of the nanostructures was investigated. Al(OH)3 was calcinated to Al2O3 nanoparticles and its photocatalytic property at presence of TiO2 nanoparticles in degradation of three different dyes was investigated. Nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. For preparation of nanocomposite, aluminum hydroxide was added to polyvinyl alcohol and its thermal stability was studied by thermo-gravimetric analysis.
