NSAIDs are still a valued treatment option for the management of pain in the elderly, despite being associated with various safety concerns. Oral NSAIDs should rarely be prescribed and should be used with great caution for short-term treatment of selected patients. Topical NSAIDs may be suitable to treat superficial joint pain. © 2011 Adis Data Information BV. All rights reserved.
