Frequency Multiplication in a High-Current Relativistic Gyrotron for Obtaining High-Power THz-Band Radiation

Abstract: Averaged equations and 3D particle-in-cell modeling are used to examine the frequency multiplication regime in a high-current relativistic gyrotron operating in the 0.1 THz band of frequencies. It is shown that the ratio of the 3rd harmonic power output and the fundamental cyclotron resonance power can be as high as 0.4–0.8%, which allows 0.3 THz radiation with a sub-MW output power level to be obtained. © 2023, Allerton Press, Inc.
