The issues of taxation of value added are analyzed with regard to the results of the functioning of production chains in the economy. A game-theoretic model of vertical interactions in oligopolistic markets is suggested for the analysis. It is shown that increased tax rates may result in greater price volatility in the economy. A possible contradiction between the goals of the fiscal and antitrust government policies is brought to light. © 2007 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
