Pulmonary actinomycosis in a postlobectomy patient—rare sequelae

Nonresolving pneumonia has a varied etiology and sometimes may pose a diagnostic challenge. We report a case of a pulmonary actinomycosis presenting as a nonresolving pneumonia. This was associated with the presence of an infected endobronchial suture material 16 years after lobectomy. Prompt introduction of specific treatment and removal of endobronchial suture material led to the excellent recovery of the patient. © 2016, Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons.
