Optical Study of the Pseudogap State in Single Layer Bi2Sr2CuO6+δ

We present infrared reflectivity measurements of the ab-plane response of Pb- and La-doped Bi2Sr2CuO6+δsingle crystals. A suppression of scattering rate is observed for La-doped samples below and above Tc, suggestive of a pseudogap. Compared with double-layer Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ, the suppression is weak and appears at lower frequencies. This may reflect a weak pairing interaction and/or smaller gap amplitude.
