Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Children with Aeromonas veronii biovar sobria Infection: a Case Report and Review of the Literature

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common childhood malignancy. Infection is the most common complication during chemotherapy. However, patient who has acute lymphoblastic leukemia with Aeromonas veronii biovar sobria infection is uncommon, especially in children. We report a 15-year-old male with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who responded well to treatment but was infected by Aeromonas veronii biovar sobria. He immediately received active anti-infective treatment, but eventually died on the fourth day. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients with Aeromonas veronii biovar sobria infection progress rapidly, with a high mortality and poor prognosis. We should pay attention to Aeromonas veronii biovar sobria infection in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
