Temperature dependence of the tensile strength of polymers and metals at elevated temperatures

摘要
We have studied the temperature dependence of the tensile strength for polymers at temperatures above the glass transition temperature and for metals, above about half of the melting temperature. An empirical relation is found between the strength of these materials, the temperature, and the time to fracture.
